Introduction
Shadow PC includes an automatic shutdown feature designed to optimize data center performance, conserve energy, and ensure resources are available for active users. If your Shadow PC remains idle for an extended period, it will shut down automatically. This helps prevent hardware strain and aligns with Shadow’s Rules and Restrictions. To avoid losing progress, it’s recommended to manually shut down your Shadow PC when it’s not in use.
Automatic Shutdown Behaviors
Shadow PC has two different automatic shutdown behaviors: online shutdown and offline shutdown.
- Online shutdown: Shuts down Shadow PC when you are connected and no input has been detected.
- Offline shutdown: Shuts down Shadow PC when your stream is closed or disconnected.
Online Shutdown
Occurs when Shadow PC remains active while the stream is left open. A warning will appear when the Shadow application is streaming, but there has been no user interaction for a period of time (e.g., no keyboard, mouse, or controller input). Without any input from the user, Shadow PC will shut down. To remove or prevent the warning from appearing, use Shadow PC or shut it down when it is not in use.
Offline Shutdown
Occurs when Shadow PC remains active after the stream is closed. A warning will appear immediately when you close the stream without shutting down Shadow PC. To prevent Shadow PC from shutting down, resume your session soon.
