Distinction Between Individual / Pro Accounts

Objective

Understand the difference between Pro and Individual account segments, and to know how to autonomously switch from an Individual segment to a Pro segment.

 

Who are Pro Accounts suitable for?

Pro features are useful when you need to go beyond an individual and occasional use of Shadow PC.

They are particularly suited if you need to:

  • Manage multiple users and their rights;

  • Manage multiple machines from a single account;

  • Quickly duplicate environments via clones;

  • Order several machines at once.

If you use Shadow PC alone, with a single machine and without the need for team or fleet management, Individual plans are usually sufficient.

Context

Rights and features by segment

Pro User:

  • User Management:

    • Creation of new users;

    • Modification of their role;

    • Assignment of a user to a VM.

  • Multiple VM Ordering:

    • Ability to order multiple VMs in one or more operations.

  • VM Cloning:

    • Ability to clone a VM from an existing VM.

Individual User:

  • No access to the features listed above (no management of other users, no multiple VM ordering, no advanced cloning for a fleet);

  • Management limited to their own VM and their subscription.

Legacy User:

  • All users who had more than 1 VM or more than 1 user before XX/XX/XX are assigned the Legacy status;

  • They can mix Pro and Individual offers on the same account;

  • They have the same rights as Pro users (user management, multiple ordering, clones, etc.).

How your segment is determined

The segment of an account is determined by the type of offer purchased:

  • If you purchase a Pro offer → your account becomes Pro and you can then only order Pro offers;

  • If you purchase an Individual offer → your account remains Individual and you can only order Individual offers, as long as you have not upgraded to a Pro offer.

To switch from an Individual to a Pro segment, you must first upgrade one of your existing offers to a Pro offer (see below).

How to access Pro features

Option 1 – I am already a Pro customer

If you already have at least one Pro offer, then you have a Pro account and have access to the advanced features.

  1. Access the Manager by logging into your account, then go to the "Shadow PC" tab → "PCs" section, or directly here: https://eu.shadow.tech/manager/vm/list

  2. Select the relevant VM.

  3. Depending on the interface, you will then access the following sections or actions:

    • User management (adding, modifying role, assigning to a VM);

    • Ordering new VMs (including multiple orders);

    • Cloning a VM from an existing VM.

  4. Configure your users, VMs, and clones according to your needs.

Option 2 – I am an Individual customer and I want to switch to Pro

To benefit from Pro features, you must first convert one of your Individual offers to a Pro offer.

  1. Access the Manager, in the "Shadow PC" tab → "PCs" section, or directly here: https://eu.shadow.tech/manager/vm/list

  2. Select the VM you wish to upgrade.

  3. In the "Offer" section, click on the "pencil" icon.

  4. Choose a Pro offer and confirm the purchase / upgrade.

  5. The upgrade is applied according to the displayed conditions (price, effective date, etc.).

Once the upgrade is complete:

  • Your account switches to the Pro segment;

  • You unlock Pro features (user management, multiple ordering, cloning);

  • Future orders on this account must be for Pro offers.
