Issue
Windows may indicate that the Intel CPU's frequency on your Shadow PC is lower than the actual CPU included with your Shadow subscription.
Cause
Shadow PC's Intel CPUs use Intel's Turbo Boost technology. Since Shadow PC is running in a virtualized environment, Windows doesn't directly interact with the physical CPU. Instead, it sees a virtual CPU (vCPU) allocated by the hypervisor, which abstracts actual hardware details.
Understanding Base Frequency vs Turbo Boost
- Base Frequency: The default clock speed of the CPU, measured in GHz.
- Turbo Boost: Intel technology that dynamically increases the CPU frequency for better performance.
A CPU with a base frequency of 2.5GHz, for example, may reach 3.3GHz using Turbo Boost.
Checking Your Actual CPU Frequency
Third-party tools like CPU-Z or HWMonitor may provide real-time frequency data. Shadow does not sponsor or support these tools, but you may use them at your own discretion.
Impact on Shadow Performance
Although Windows only displays the base frequency, your Shadow PC benefits from Turbo Boost automatically. Shadow PC's performance is unaffected.
If you suspect any issues with your Shadow PC's CPU, shut down Shadow PC and start it again.
