How to use the "Always On" option on your Shadow Pro PC?
Do you want your Shadow Pro PC to remain powered on and accessible continuously, even when you are not connected or active? The "Always On" option is designed for this.
What is the "Always On" option and when to use it?
By default, to optimize energy consumption, your Shadow session automatically ends after a period of inactivity or when you close the Shadow application (the client).
The "Always On" option disables this behavior. Once activated, your Shadow Pro PC remains powered on 24/7, even if you are not connected.
It is particularly useful if you use your Shadow Pro PC for tasks that require continuous background operation, such as:
- Long graphic or video rendering
- Complex calculations
- Running automations or scripts
- Maintaining local servers or applications continuously active
Important Note: We encourage you to use the "Always On" option responsibly and to activate it only when genuinely necessary for your professional uses, to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
Option Conditions and Billing
- The "Always On" option is an additional paid option. Its cost is indicated in the Manager at the time of activation.
- It is available only for certain Shadow Pro offers (the Essential offer is not compatible).
- You can activate or deactivate it at any time via your Shadow Manager (deactivation currently requires contacting support, see below).
- Billing: When you activate or deactivate the option during the month, billing applies to the full calendar month. There are no prorated refunds for a partial month.
How to activate the "Always On" option?
If you already have a Shadow Pro offer compatible with the "Always On" option, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Shadow Manager.
- In the "Shadow PC" tab, select the Pro PC on which you want to activate the option.
- In the information panel that appears on the side, look for the "Options" section or "Shadow PC Always On".
- Click the button or toggle to activate the "Shadow PC Always On" option.
- A confirmation window will appear, showing the monthly cost of the option. Read carefully and validate if you wish to proceed.
If your current offer is not compatible, you will first need to change your Shadow Pro offer to one that includes the "Always On" option.
- Choose the desired Pro offer
- Go to the Manager, in the "Shadow PC" tab → "PCs" section or directly here: https://eu.shadow.tech/manager/vm/list
- Select the relevant Shadow PC
- Click on the "pencil" icon in the "Offer" section
- Choose a Pro offer and validate the purchase.
The upgrade is applied immediately. Once the offer is updated, you can follow the steps above.
How to deactivate the "Always On" option?
Currently, deactivating the "Always On" option is not yet available for self-service directly via the Manager.
To deactivate this option, please contact Shadow Support via your support area or the contact form. Clearly state that you wish to deactivate the "Always On" option for your Shadow Pro PC.
The support team will process your request. Please remember that, according to the billing terms, deactivation will be effective at the end of the current calendar month.
