Introduction
Shadow PC automatically detects the optimal resolution and frame rate for your stream, ensuring it matches your local display’s native resolution and refresh rate. This article explains how automatic resolution and frame rate detection work. You can also create a custom resolution and frame rate if you prefer not to use the automatic settings.
Automatic Resolution
Shadow PC detects and adapts to your screen’s native resolution automatically. If you switch devices or screens during a session, Shadow PC will readjust to match the new display’s resolution.
Keep in mind that Shadow PC can't stream in a resolution higher than the resolution of your local device.
Consider lowering your resolution if you detect latency.
Automatic Frame Rate
Shadow PC synchronizes the stream’s frame rate (Frames Per Second or FPS) with your display’s refresh rate (Hertz or Hz). For example, if your display has a 60 Hz refresh rate, Shadow PC will stream at 60 FPS.
Even if your Shadow PC's GPU can render more frames, your display's refresh rate determines the maximum visible FPS.
Limit your frame rate if there's any noticeable latency. To limit the frame rate:
-
Shut down Shadow PC.
-
Open Settings in the Shadow launcher.
-
Navigate to Video & Display > Advanced Settings.
-
Choose your desired frame rate limit (Unlimited, 60, or 50).
