Payments can be declined for various reasons, and your bank may not always share the exact reason. If your payment was declined, retry your payment or see common payment issues and how to resolve them.
Common Payment Issues
Insufficient Funds
Your payment method lacks the necessary balance. Check your account and contact your bank if needed. You can also try a different payment method.
Authorization Required
Your bank may need you to approve the charge. Authorize it through their web service or contact them to allow future payments from Shadow.
Incorrect Billing Information
Your billing details must match those registered with your payment method. If they can’t be verified, your payment may be flagged as suspicious.
To ensure a successful payment:
- Verify your full address, including city and ZIP code.
- Select the correct country and state during checkout.
- Restart checkout to update your country or state if needed.
Incorrect Payment Information
Banks sometimes decline payments without explanation. Ensure your billing details are correct, check your balance, or try a different payment method.
High Risk and Fraud
Shadow uses Stripe to process payments securely. While we don’t store your payment details, Stripe uses them to help detect fraud. If you believe your payment was blocked by Shadow, try the following:
- Disable IP-masking services – VPNs, proxies, and firewalls can make payments appear suspicious.
- Use a different payment method – Stripe assesses your payment activity across all merchants using its service. Suspicious activity will result in a block, and these decisions cannot be overturned.
- Wait and retry later – Too many attempts can trigger a rate limiter. Wait 24 hours before trying again.
