Shadow PC FPS Limitations

Updated

Depending on your local device, your screen(s), and your offer, the maximum FPS that you will be able to set up on your Shadow PC will change.

See below the limitations according to the Shadow PC app that you use:

⚠️ The Shadow PC Essential Offer is limited to a maximum resolution of 1920*1080 and 32FPS.

Note: If you are facing issues such as stuttering or latency, we recommend reducing your maximum bandwidth as well as seeing the other tips from our article Tips to improve latency.

We also recommend having a look at our article about V-Sync.

Note: You can find which graphics card is included in your Shadow PC by accessing your Shadow PC on your desktop, using the Win/Command + R shortcut, typing "dxdiag" and accessing the "Display" tab.

Graphics Cards Restrictions:

Find below the restrictions of our graphics cards in terms of maximum resolutions and display frequencies for which we provide support:

⚠️ By default, your Shadow PC will match the configuration you have set up on your local computer, which means that you are limited by your local computer decoding capacity.

If you notice stuttering or latency, we recommend to deactivate the option "Always match Shadow resolution with local display" from your quick menu and reduce manually your maximum FPS.

If this does not solve the issue, you can also reduce your resolution via the same settings.

See How to Use the Quick Menu.

Double screen (see How to add an additional screen to Shadow):

⚠️ Please note that it is not possible to use several screens with the Shadow PC Essential Offer.

Using several screens will utilize more of your local computer decoding capacity.

Using Shadow on one screen and using the other screen, even locally, to watch a video on Youtube, Twitter or Twitch, will use up your local computer's decoding capacity.

We recommend reducing the use of any other program that you are using on your local PC besides Shadow PC.

If you are watching a stream, you can for example reduce the stream quality.

H265 (see Using High Efficiency Video Coding (H.265))

⚠️ Please note that it is not possible to use H265 with the Shadow PC Essential Offer.

H265 does not support high bandwidths very well.

We recommend reducing your bandwidth to between 15 and 20 megabits if you experience stuttering.

For Android and iOS, please refer to your device's manufacturer sheet and OS version.

By default, the display resolution will be as large as possible, but you may need to reduce it directly from the settings.
