Set up an Xbox controller on Shadow

Updated

📌Before you begin:

  • Close the Shadow app if you are on a local device.

  • Use an official Xbox controller. Unofficial Xbox controllers may not work properly with your Shadow.

Connexion via USB

To connect an Xbox controller to your device:

  1. Use a micro-USB cable to connect your Xbox controller to your PC or TV.

  2. On your local device, plug in your controller.

  3. Turn on your Xbox controller.

  4. Start your application and open the Quick Menu to see if your controller is present in the Controllers & USB tab.

📝 Notes:

  • Plug the Xbox controller into a blue USB 3.0 port, if possible. Some Xbox Controller features, such as vibration, are not available over USB 2.0.

  • Mobile devices may require Bluetooth setup or a USB On-The-Go (OTG) cable.

  • If your computer does not have Bluetooth, it is possible to connect an Xbox controller using the official wireless adapter.

Connexion via Bluetooth

To pair your Xbox Wireless Controller with a Bluetooth-enabled device:

  1. Activate Bluetooth on your device.

  2. Press and hold the buttons Xbox And Bind on your controller to make your device discoverable. When the controller is ready to pair, the logo will flash quickly.

  3. Use your device's Bluetooth feature to find and pair your wireless controller.

  4. On Shadow Ghost, follow the instructions in this article: Configure a Bluetooth device on the Shadow Ghost.

To troubleshoot issues

Update your controller

Microsoft recommends updating your Xbox controller to ensure your device will be compatible with modern software and hardware updates. Here's how to update your Xbox Wireless Controller.

Test your connection

Your connection must be able to send key presses from your controllers with as little latency as possible. Most controllers require a 15Mbps connection and a latency of less than 30ms.

🚨 Warning: Any third party software or hardware mentioned in this article is not sponsored, distributed by, or licensed to Shadow. The use of additional software or hardware does not guarantee that your Xbox controller will be compatible with Shadow or your device.
