Introduction
We would like to inform you that the latest Windows 11 update is currently not compatible with our Shadow PCs.
This incompatibility may prevent access to your Shadow PC and render it unusable.
How to avoid this upgrade?
We strongly recommend that you:
- Disable the upgrade to Windows 11 if your Shadow PC is currently running Windows 10.
- Block Windows 11 updates if your Shadow is already on Windows 11 to prevent installation of the problematic version.
Tutorial: Disable the upgrade to Windows 11 (if you’re on Windows 10)
- Open the Group Policy Editor: Press
Windows + R
, typegpedit.msc
, and press Enter. - Navigate to:
Computer Configuration
→Administrative Templates
→Windows Components
→Windows Update
→Windows Update for Business
- Double-click on Select the target Feature Update version
- Enable the option, then in Target Version for Feature Updates, enter:
21H2
(or your current Windows 10 version) - Click OK and restart your Shadow.
Tutorial 2: Block future updates on Windows 11
Option 1: Temporarily pause updates
- Go to Settings → Windows Update
- Click on Pause updates for 1 week

Option 2: Disable the Windows Update service
- Press
Windows + R
, typeservices.msc
, and press Enter - Find Windows Update in the list
- Double-click it and in Startup type, select Disabled
- Click Stop if the service is running, then OK

You will then be able to use your Shadow PC again — be sure not to install Windows 11 until the fix is available.
