Introduction
Windows 11 was released by Microsoft on October 5, 2021.
Thanks to adjustments made to ensure compatibility with Shadow PCs, Windows 11 has been available for Shadow since April 3, 2023, if your configuration is eligible.
Important: we do not recommend using disk encryption features such as BitLocker on Windows 11, as they can make your Shadow PC inaccessible.

Availability and support
• In some regions, the upgrade to Windows 11 may not appear in Windows Update due to hardware detection on certain Shadow PCs. If this happens, use Microsoft's Installation Assistant.
• In Europe, Windows 11 is supported by Shadow for one extra year at no additional cost. This extension applies only in Europe.

Why does Windows Update say my Shadow PC is not compatible?
On some Shadow PCs, Windows Update may report an incompatibility due to hardware recognition. This does not prevent you from using Windows 11 on Shadow if your configuration is compatible. Use Microsoft's Installation Assistant to perform the upgrade.

Can I roll back from Windows 11 to Windows 10 on my Shadow PC?
Rolling back to Windows 10 is not supported on Shadow after upgrading to Windows 11.

No. It is not possible to choose the Windows license at activation.

Troubleshooting: black screen after installing Windows 11
If you see a black screen after installation:
1. Wait 5 minutes
2. Close the window
3. Open the Shadow app and click Help
4. Shut down the VM manually from the launcher
5. Relaunch your Shadow
If the black screen appears again, repeat the steps above. If the issue persists, contact Support.
