How to Update your Local Computer


To ensure your local computer has the latest updates to support Shadow, check for the operating system and driver updates on your device. This article includes websites we recommend using to check for popular software and hardware updates.

📌 Before You Begin:

  • Back up any important files on your computer before installing updates.

  • During an update, your computer may restart several times. Do not turn your computer off.

Operating System Updates

For Windows Windows_icon.png

  1. Click the Start icons8-windows-client-24.png button.

  2. Go to Settings icons8-settings-24.png.

  3. Click Update & SecurityWindows_update_small.jpg > Windows UpdateWindows_update_small.jpg.

For macOS Apple_icon.png

  1. Click Apple menuApple_icon.png > System Preferences.

  2. Click Software Update.

For Ubuntu Ubuntu_icon.png

  1. Press the Superkey to launch the Dash.

  2. Search for Update Manager.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Make sure Ubuntu is set to automatically check for updates and notify you when updates are available.

  5. Click Close, then click OK to close the Update Manager.

  6. Open Update Manager to trigger a new update. If an update is available, click Upgrade....
