Set up a VPN on Shadow

Updated

Installing a VPN on your Shadow PC will allow you to access your company network where your storage servers may be located.

Before you begin installing your VPN, we strongly recommend that you make a backup of the important data that could be on your Shadow. In order to achieve this, please read our article: How to Backup my Data on Shadow.

How to set up your VPN on Shadow

You can configure your VPN the same way you would on a standard PC. We invite you to follow these two criteria in order to avoid any risk of data loss:

Using an improperly configured VPN can interfere with Shadow services. A factory reset of your Shadow PC may be unavoidable in this case.

  1. Make sure that your VPN is set to split tunneling*1.
This ensures that part of your connection is redirected to the VPN while the other part continues to be active to provide Shadow services between your application and our infrastructure.
*1 Split tunneling is an option in your VPN that allows you to include or exclude the applications that should (not) be protected by it.

  2. Make sure that the IP address used by your VPN does not overlap with the IP addresses used by Shadow:

    10.0.[1-8].0/24
